About Slow Burn

I primarily work as a software engineer for an Auckland-based Online Payment provider from my residence in North Canterbury, New Zealand. Don't tell my boss but my real passion is the work I do on the side in the Public Safety sector.

Slow Burn is an attempt to combine my two other passions: boardgames and the study of conflict to examine strategic decision-making through extended campaigns in board wargames and serious computer simulations. Rather than quick reviews, the aim is to follow individual campaigns in detail, paying attention to the gradual build-up of choices, consequences, and narrative tension that only emerges over many sessions of play.
